With support from the state of North Carolina for the construction of the N.C. Cancer Hospital and through the University Cancer Research Fund, UNC Lineberger faculty treat cancer patients, conduct research into the causes of cancer and search for new treatments, develop and direct statewide programs in cancer prevention, and train future physicians, nurses, scientists and public health professionals.
The Neuro-oncology Program at UNC is committed to providing leading-edge, integrated specialty treatment for patients with brain and other central nervous system tumors. Our multidisciplinary approach pools the expertise and resources of specialists in the fields of neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, and neuropsychology.. This approach ensures both efficiency in diagnosing and treating patients and development of an optimal treatment plan. Our program offers the most up-to-date advances in diagnostic tools, surgical techniques, and medical and radiation therapies.
