At Head for the Cure, we know the community drives every step forward in the fight against brain cancer. Hosting your own event is more than fundraising; it’s bringing people together to raise awareness and inspire action. From garage sales and golf tournaments to community walks and fun runs, you can rally your friends, neighbors, and colleagues to make a real impact.

Every September, the community of Midland, TX, comes together for the Herbish Golf Tournament, an event rooted in love, remembrance, and hope. Founded by Lezlye Ware and Sharon Farmer to honor their late husbands, Herb Ware and David Farmer, the tournament celebrates their legacies while uniting friends, families, and supporters in the fight against brain cancer.
Since its start in 2017, Herbish has proudly supported Head for the Cure and MD Anderson Cancer Center, raising vital funds for research and patient support. Thanks to the dedication of participants, sponsors, and the local community, the tournament has surpassed an incredible milestone—over $1 million raised through golf tournaments and Head for the Cure 5K Run/Walk fundraising.
Each year, the Pittsburgh community gathers for our 5K Run/Walk, and one of the highlights is always the raffle basket fundraiser. Among the many inspiring efforts, Team DAC’s Allison and Christine S. have made a lasting impact by hosting a special raffle in honor of their grandpa and dad. With passion and dedication, they gather donations from businesses and supporters all across the Pittsburgh area, thoughtfully curating more than 35 unique baskets each year. From gourmet foods and local favorites to pampering self-care items, their baskets truly offer something for everyone. Thanks to the generosity of the community and the hard work of Allison and Christine, this fundraiser has raised more than $20,000 to support the fight against brain cancer!
Unite your loved ones and friends by organizing a local golf tournament to support brain cancer research fundraising.
Get your workplace to support the fight against brain cancer! There are three main ways employers can support nonprofits: payroll deductions, grants, and matching gifts. Whether you’re an employee or an employer, we’d be happy to chat about making Head for the Cure an approved charity for your workplace giving programs.
Raffle baskets are a fun and engaging way to raise funds while giving participants the chance to win exciting prizes. With themed baskets full of donated items, they bring communities together, spark friendly competition, and generate meaningful support for a great cause.
