Eldon Wenstrand

Eldon Taylor Wenstrand, age 49, died of brain cancer on September 1, 2012 at home with his family by his side. Eldon was born June 26, 1963 at KU Medical Center to Charles Eldon and Evelyn Taylor Wenstrand. Eldon graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School, class of 1981, where he set records in basketball. He received scholarships for basketball, golf, and football throughout his college career. His undergraduate degree in Education was earned from Pittsburgh State University, class of 1987. In 2006, he received his master’s degree from Baker University in Education Administration. Professionally, he was a teacher, basketball, and golf coach; an administrator for the Kansas State Board of Education; and later, a day trader.
Eldon will be remembered by his students for his inspiration and gentle kindness and by his cherished family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and devoted friend. Survived by his wife, Lisa Bartkoski Wenstrand; two daughters, Erin Taylor Wenstrand, 17, and Kimberly Marie Wenstrand, 20; her husband Robert William Irvine and grandson, Bowen Robert Irvine; father, Charles Wenstrand; sister, Ruth Wenstrand Baron and her husband, Ray; and nieces Emily Grace Gean and Katherine Elyse Gean. Surviving cousins include Lynn Wenstrand Slezak, Hannah Brown, and Robert Brown and Barbara Brown Nesser and their children Craig, Cindy, Dwight, Diane, Dwayne, Donald.
Eldon Wenstrand was a believer in Christ. All were influenced by his rock steady faith. He was an active member of Harvest Bible Chapel, 16000 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kansas, where a service will be held to remember him on Saturday, September 8 at 10:30 a.m.
