Dr. Sarkar, is a functional neurosurgeon at Global Neurosciences Institute (GNI), where he oversees the neuro-oncology program and is deeply dedicated to brain tumor research. A nationally recognized Westinghouse Science Scholar, he studied at Brown University and earned his MD/PhD from the University of Miami. He completed a neurosurgical residency at the Mayo Clinic and a post-doctoral fellowship in nanotechnology at Columbia University. He previously led multiple neurosurgical programs at The Ohio State University. Since joining GNI in 2019, Dr. Sarkar has served as Director of Neuro-Oncology and the Adult & Pediatric Stereotactic, Functional, and Epilepsy Surgery Program, and is a professor at Drexel University. He has also raised significant funds in support of the Head for the Cure 5K – Philadelphia and its mission to advance brain tumor research.
