Growing up as the eldest of seven children, Margaretta Page’s passion for caregiving started at a young age. Naturally inclined to care for others, she pursued nursing, eventually finding her calling in the field of neuroscience. After many years in the UCSF Neuro-Oncology clinic supporting patients, Margaretta then assumed the role as the nurse coordinator for the groundbreaking UCSF Neuro-Oncology Gordon Murray Caregiver Program where she led an innovative effort focused on supporting the often-overlooked caregivers of brain tumor patients.
Recognizing that caregivers play a vital role in patient care, Margaretta spent the last half of her career dedicating herself to ensuring they receive the same attention and resources as the patients themselves. Under her leadership, the program grew to not only addressing caregivers’ needs from diagnosis through the course of the illness but also offering a comprehensive care plan that follows them throughout.

Margaretta’s pioneering work set a new standard in caregiver support, positioning the program as a model for others looking to acknowledge and meet the critical needs of caregivers in neuro-oncolog
