A friend who happens to be a neurologist referred us to Dr. Butt while my husband David and I were waiting for his final brain biopsy results. We immediately transferred all of his care to Siteman Center Center at Washington University after our first appointment with Dr. Butt. He was relentless in obtaining the biopsy results from another institution in town and personally tried to track them down from the other pathology lab. In the meantime, he admitted him for an expediated workup and PET scan. His has a calm demeanor and relates to his patients as fellow humans. The diagnosis of any type of tumor is overwhelming, but brain cancer is particularly brutal. He gave us hope when we had lost ours in pursuit of the correct diagnosis. Glioblastoma is a devastating diagnosis. Dr. Butt helped us preserve David’s dignity as his journey came to an end. When we received a sympathy card from the Team, Dr. Butt’s remark was, “I wish I could have done more.” Thanks for your dedication.
