Lillie, a loving mother, retired librarian, and doting grandmother of 4 was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July, 2020. Upon hearing the news, in true “Lillie faith”, she declared, “God’s got it!” As part of the treatment plan, Lillie had a craniotomy to resect part of the tumor. Under the watchful eyes of Dr. Seyfried, Dr. Walbert, Dr. Wang, and Dr. Siddiqui, Lillie also completed radiation and chemotherapy. Staying strong in her faith, Lillie kept a positive attitude during her treatment, even enduring the weekly blood draws which were her least favorite. Trying to stay active, even in the midst of a pandemic, Lillie took short walks with family, and after completing treatment, Lillie joined a Senior fit class at the Senior Center she is affiliated with. Lillie also stayed active with her online Small Group Bible Study where she was all too happy to share about the great care she received from her Caregivers at Henry Ford. Stretching herself to try new things, it was a major victory for Lillie to walk in the Head for the Cure 5k Run Walk in 2021, where she was able to celebrate with other survivors and those walking out their journey. Lillie’s daily positive attitude and her desire to be a light that shines brightly is infectious and helps to raise the spirits of whomever she is around. Celebrating 82 years young, Lillie continues to maintains that she has the victory in this journey, championing Isaiah 53:5, “…by His stripes, we are healed” and Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which Strengthens me.” Lillie’s can-do attitude and desire to live everyday with joy is an inspiration, and we are proud to call her, mom! “Her children arise and call her blessed…” Proverbs 31:28 With Love, Deirdre, Tommy, Ron, And Don and Paris
