I am writing to nominate Martye Earp Guthe. Martye has been fighting for a year now to beat a brain tumor. She has fought with such amazing grace and positive energy. She amazes me and our Hayes Barton Baptist family – in particular our Cashwell Class Sunday School – with her faith and presence as she fights the biggest battle of her life. She continues to attend class via Zoom and inspire her classmates with her positive attitude and strong faith. She assists with and supports our class’s ministry to The Helen Wright Center even when healthy members do not volunteer. We pray for her daily and know that if anyone can beat brain cancer, it will be Martye. I only hope that if I ever find myself in her shoes, I might have a tenth of Martye’s faith, courage and positive attitude. She is my hero!
