UPDATE FROM PRIOR STORY: Brooke was first diagnosed in 2017 at the age of 20. After brain surgery, radiation, and year of chemo she remained stable. She graduated form Texas Tech and just had her dream wedding to Tyler Baldwin in spring of 2021. Shortly after the wedding, her first MRI showed an enhancement. After consults with her team at MD Anderson, a biopsy was needed and ultimately another surgery was scheduled in September of 2021. Brooke’s tumor had progressed to a grade 4, IDH mutant astrocytoma. Brooke is currently recovering from her recent surgery and doing PT/OT, and speech therapy to help her get stronger as she prepares for her next round of treatment at MD Anderson. She is a one of the strongest and most courageous people you will ever meet as well as one of the most loved! Her faith is grounded in Jesus. She has tremendous support from family and friends and her influence on others is wide spread. She loves to laugh and has a contagious smile! She is the reason for the team name #ExpectMiracles because she defies the odds and faces the most difficult challenges with grace and faith to overcome them.
