Danielle was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer (Anaplastic Astrocytoma) at the age of 19 after she suffered a seizure. She had her tumor resection done August 2007. Danielle woke up from surgery with paralysis on her left side. Danielle had to learn how to walk, dress herself, and do the daily basic tasks that all of us take for granted. Danielle spent four months in physical and occupational therapy. Danielle had thirty-three days of radiation and twenty-four months of oral chemotherapy. The area where the doctors administered the radiation her hair has never grown back in. Danielle never missed a day of college while completing her twenty-four oral chemotherapy treatments. She never had a “why me” attitude, she knew what she had to do to beat this. Danielle is now an amazing oncology nurse at Baylor Charles A Sammoms Cancer Center at Dallas helping others through their battles of cancer. She has touched so many lives and has no idea what an angel she is to her family and patients. This is why we want to nominate our beautiful Danielle.
