In Feb 2020, our 28 year old son Doug was diagnosed with brain cancer. To say it was a devastating diagnosis was an understatement. Four days after the MRI that confirmed the tumors, Doug was having brain surgery. The surgeon was able to remove one of the tumors. And, it was discovered that his tumors had the IDH mutation which gives better treatment options. We ended up at UTSW for follow up with their neurologic and radiation oncology teams. They have been fantastic! Doug handled the treatment schedule like a real trooper! He hates needles so the frequent MRI’s and bloodwork were stressful for him on top of everything else. He never missed a treatment and he downed every chemo tablet. Now 6 years later he is still in remission and doing great! . He and his incredible fiancée Daisy just bought a house in Dec. And, they are getting married this evening after doing the Head for Cure 5K. We could not be more thrilled for them and their future!
