Like so many other brain cancer patients, without any prior symptoms, Emily awoke in the middle of the night, on October 18th, 2018, with a seizure. A trip to the emergency room revealed a tumor the size of a tennis ball. On November 1st, the astrocytoma tumor was removed at UW Medicine and Emily started the radiation-chemo regime, which lasted 7 months. To date, her tumor has not reappeared. Emily has embraced her life as a kindergarten teacher. She keeps a positive attitude about life and spends much of her free time helping friends in need of support.
