I met Emma’s mom, Karla, at Dell Children’s in the pharmacy. At the time my daughter, Aubrie, was going through chemo. Karla asked if she could share Aubrie’s number with Emma. She needed a friend. Karla told me that Emma had brain cancer and needed a friend , that they could be each others’ shoulders to lean on. Although Aubrie was a little bit older they kept in touch. I’d stay up to date with Emma’s journey even after losing our Aubrie to Sarcoma in May 2024. Learning she’d undergo surgeries and many hospital stays, we’ve cherished all of Emma’s drawings of Aubrie and kind words she’d share about how much her friendship with Aubrie meant to her. Emma is back in school, courageous, bright young lady.
