My husband, Eric Petersen, was diagnosed with a central neurocytoma, malignant, tumor in December of 2013. There were no symptoms before he fell ill on December 21st. A sudden headache led us to the ER where we were informed that he had a very large tumor in the center of his brain that was bleeding. After more than a week in a coma in ICU, two surgeries to remove the tumor, and a month long stay in the hospital, Eric was transferred to Tirr Memorial rehab facility where he would relearn to walk, talk and gain his overall strength back. Eric has defied all odds as his outlook was very grim. He was discharged from Tirr at the end of January 2014 and participated in his first Head for the Cure in September 2014, placing in his age group. Early March 2015, Eric and I welcomed our first child, a son, Noah. Eric is a testament to never give up! He is my inspiration and my hero.
