Jailene is a strong 3 year-old girl and has made me a stronger mom. She was taken to the ER on April 12, 2014 for severe headaches. She was sent home and we were told she had allergies. She continued to scream and cry that her head hurt through the night. I then decided to take her to another children’s hospital here in San Antonio. The ER doctor performed a CT scan, just as a precaution, and 20 minutes later our lives changed in the blink of an eye. As of June 23, 2014, she has had to get 4 blood transfusions, 2 platelet transfusions, and 5 lumbar punctures. Jalene is currently at home and we are waiting for her platelet counts to come up to proceed with chemo treatments. She will be on her third cycle of chemo once we are able to continue. Jalene has showed her true strength and hardly ever complains. She is a fighter!!! * March 15, 2015 we began honoring the memory of Jalene.
