Jason is a devoted father and loving partner, son, brother — and to the author — cousin, and friend. Jason is battling brain cancer for the second time. After almost a decade cancer-free, during which time he became a dad to Wally, a recent MRI showed new tumor growth. Devastating shockwaves rippled through the family. Jason, however, immediately turned his focus toward his physical and mental health. He took on the diagnosis as a personal challenge. Shortly after finishing 6 weeks of radiation and chemo, Jason completed the Stumptown Trail Runs half marathon through Forest Park (in under 2 and a half hours!), and inspired family members to run with him. Jason’s loved ones join him on race day as Wally’s Team, on a day with no signs of a tumor. Jason has made clear that family time is for creating joy and forever memories. In a way, he is holding us together. A message from Jason’s family: We are here, for all of it. We love you.
