I’m nominating my daughter, JoAnn, as a Keeping the Faith honoree. Her journey began at age 23 with severe migraines, 12 years ago, in 2013. Her head felt like it was going to explode. After 6 months, she finally got diagnosed with a Glioblastoma stage 4 tumor, front left lobe. She got life flighted from Erie to Pittsburgh. She had an amazing Neuro-Surgeon, Dr. Engh, that did her craniotomy at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. After the craniotomy, she did radiation & chemo pill for 1 year. Then she had 2 strokes. She did physical therapy multiple times to get her strength back. She still has short term memory loss & cognitive issues but has leaned on her faith, one day at a time.
She is now a 12 year survivor/thriver. She is still monitored every 6 months with MRI & Neuro-Oncology appointments with Dr. Drappatz. She enjoys participating in special olympics bocce ball & bowling, and spending time with her family. Our family enjoys attending/supporting the 5K Head for the Cure. God Bless!!!
