My brother Juan Briones, Jr. was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme on November 17, 2013. At the time Juan was diagnosed he had been laid off in September 2014 and did not have any health insurance. He lived in Santa Monica, CA and was very active helping the community. He was President of the UCLA Alumni association, an active member of the Activity committee at his church and in the Indian Film festival committee. We are from San Antonio, TX. He had surgery in CA but they were not able to remove any of the tumor. They told us this was the worst kind of cancer and that he would have 6 months to a year to live. We then asked him to move to San Antonio so that we can take care of him. He agreed and stated that he was ready whenever God wanted to take him. That he lived a good life in California and it was time for him to go home and spend time with us. I was able to get him insurance through the Obama Care health plan. If it wasn’t for this insurance don’t know how we would have covered all the expensive cost. Juan had another surgery In San Antonio and they were able to remove around cm, which hopefully has bought him some more time here in this world. Has been a challenge dealing with all the effect of the brain tumor but we will help my brother as much as we can. Only God knows when he is ready for Juan but he is an amazing person with such a positive attitude. He cares so much for others and loves the world that he is ready whenever he is called. Our team will walk to honor Juan, September 27 in San Antonio!! Please find a cure so that maybe Juan can take advantage of this. * February 22, 2015 we began honoring the memory of Juan.
