This is my wife’s story: May 26 2006, I had no symptoms. On that day I was talking funny and smelling something. We went straight to the hospital. That is where I had a grand mal seizer. I was sent to the Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh.
After the biopsy, they told me the tumor could not be taken out. I had more tests and another Dr. told me I had 6-7 years left.
I’ve had no more grand mal seizures, but I started getting 10 to 15 small seizers per day. In Nov 2006, it started to grow, so my Dr. started me with radiation. It began to grow and I needed chemo. From Dec 22, 2007, until Dec 22, 2008, I had chemo every other Monday. I had family and friends take me for chemo. Each one would take their day off.
When his insurance changed, we now go the Hillman Cancer Center for my 3-month MRIs. I now have an epilepsy Dr., and we work to decrease the number of seizures that I get. I am now on 17 pills and only get 2 to 3 seizures per week.
My kids are now 24 and 22 and I still have not driven a car, but I am still here!
