Many of us at D3b (except Dr Storm) met Kevin already a brain tumor survivor. To briefly share his story – he was diagnosed in the summer of 2010, after coming home from a baseball game and complaining of seeing two baseballs in the field. After referrals from a pediatrician to an ophthalmologist, he was urgently sent to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Within a few days, he and his family were shocked to learn that while otherwise healthy, he had a brain tumor. He immediately went to the operating room and had lifesaving surgery to alleviate the complications caused by the tumor.
Years later, Kevin and his family started a foundation, and Kevin came back to CHOP to work alongside Dr Storm who performed his surgery. In his role as a clinical research assistant with D3b, he aimed to make a difference for the families now going through what he did. He has since moved onto medical school and just completed his first year!
