This year, my mom is celebrating 25 years since her brain tumor diagnosis. Her doctors had thought she might only get 5. My mother is the strongest person I know, and has demonstrated resilience, persistence, and unfailing gratitude for being dealt a hand in life that would crush most people and their spirits. She was diagnosed when I was 8 years old, and later, she would tell me that she “fought like hell” because she wanted to see my brother (12 years old at the time of diagnosis) and me finish high school, and later, she admitted that she knew she needed to hold on to see me get married. In October 2024, after ANOTHER setback in which a fall in April 2024 broke her left femur (partially due to advanced osteoporosis from the radiation and chemotherapy), she again persevered and went through surgery, rehab, and building up her strength again to walk down the aisle with my grandfather at my wedding. Her courage and strength are inspiring, and I wanted to highlight her story!
