In 1998, while at work, Lanette got a call that there was a mass on her brain and she should see a neurologist. She was a single mother in her 20’s, with two small children. Lanette is now a 20 year brain cancer survivor and a tower of faith and strength. She turned a terrifying situation into a beacon of hope for others and their families by establishing Gray Matters Foundation to support others going through this ordeal. Lanette was named the 2017 Hon Kachina award recipient. Kachina Volunteer Awards program is designed to honor people making significant volunteer contributions to the healthcare field and to increase public awareness about volunteerism. Lanette is an amazing person and I am so proud to call her my friend.
