Laura has always been someone that lives life to the fullest! In September 2015, while travel nursing in California, Laura was diagnosed with a GBM after having seizures on the beach in San Diego. After having surgery to resect her tumor, she completed chemotherapy and radiation and has continued on an immunotherapy since. While completing a year of maintenance chemo, Laura went back to work as a Labor & Delivery nurse. One month ago, Laura experienced a grand mal seizure after completing her regularly scheduled MRI and then had another seizure one week later. Her MRI was reviewed and results were given as “stable”. Dr Groves looked at the MRI and saw something small and scheduled a repeat MRI for 2 days before this upcoming race. Even though she is now not allowed to drive, she’s continued working full time as an L&D nurse, taking care of women, bringing new life into the world. Laura has been so brave, strong, and determined to beat brain cancer! Her positivity radiates and she’s loved by so many! She’s keeping the faith that a cure will be found sooner rather than later.
