I’ve known Lauren since we were both embarking on a new chapter of life, back in our earlier days, when we were starting at the same new high school, in the same grade, at the same time. I would be lying if I said we started out as besties. In fact, we pretty much pitted ourselves against each other. But over time, through the course of life, we realized we had more in common than we knew. We actually got along really well. We let down our guard and became our authentic selves around each other. We may not have said it, but to me, I knew that she was my best friend. Life came knocking again and I lost touch with Lauren for several years. I had no idea she had been going through treatment and I completely missed those chapters of her life. Well today is a new day and a new chapter, we both are striving to help each other improve as human beings. Lauren is one of the most selfless people I have met. She is willing to go above and beyond to help a friend. As an aside, unless you are a jerk, everyone is a friend. To me that speaks volumes about her character. And although in this new chapter, Lauren is continuing to undergo treatment (yet again), this time we are confident in the fact that there is a reason for everything that happens. I’m not going anywhere, and Lauren is going to be well no matter what happens. I love her as a sister and I would like to honor her naturally beautiful persona. Lauren is so much more than this, so let’s Head for the Cure so she can go back to making this world brighter.
