On Aug 2nd, 2018 Mike had his first seizure. After extensive blood tests and MRIs, the doctors discovered the cause of this seizure, as well as the ones that followed, was a brain tumor. So, on the morning of Oct 1st, 2018 Mike underwent his first brain surgery where the doctors informed him and his family that he has stage IV glioblastoma. Mike is currently undergoing treatment at Northwestern Medicine where he has been introduced to advanced clinical trials since traditional chemo and radiation are not effective on him. He recently had his second brain surgery to remove swelling. His determination and fighting spirit continue to inspire his family and everyone around him as he refuses to give in to brain cancer!
