18 years ago we were stopped in our track as we wrapped our heads around a diagnosis of brain cancer in our family. What seemed to be another winter virus turned out to uncover a brain tumor. At the time, this amazing survivor had 2 kids in elementary school and her first concern was not about herself rather her kids – her main negotiation with her providers was to prolong surgery until her kids were at least of driving age. Her wish was granted – by her surgery date, her daughter was a freshman in college and her son was a junior in high school. This year we celebrate 10 years from her surgery and channel her inner Shania Twain and “make some noise, really raise her voice; Yeah, we’re gonna scream and shout!” So proud of her and the strength she shows as she continues to rally against this beast and show it who’s BOSS.
