Payton was diagnosed with Polycystic Astrocytoma or an optic nerve glioma at 5 years old. His tumor caused him to be partially blind and has had stunted growth. You’d never know he’s visually impaired because he’s adapted so well. Unfortunately, his tumor is inoperable because it’s involved with his optic nerves and his hypothalamus. Payton has gone through a lot in his 21 years. He is an amazing young man and very resilient. I know certain side effects have been hard to accept, but he is still able to see the blessings he’s been given and what miracles he has been blessed with. Payton tries his very hardest to make his life as normal as possible. Most people don’t know what he faces every day because he has adapted and chosen to not let it hold him back. I am very happy his surgeon was wrong and he has made it to be a young man living the best life he can.
