We (family and friends) are participating in Head for the Cure to fundraise for brain cancer research in honor of Dr. Peter Townley. On June 3rd, 2011, Pete was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor. Since June 2011, he has bravely gone through three brain surgeries, two 6-week intensive rounds of radiation, and one gamma knife procedure. We have always been proud of Pete, but have been especially amazed by his courage and perseverance these past two years. Pete went to undergrad and medical school at Creighton University and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He has been working as an Oncologist in Omaha, Nebraska for the past 20+ years. He knows first-hand what his patients are feeling, and has been awarded the Hope Medical Outreach Coalition’s Champion of Hope Award as well as the American Cancer Society’s Spirit of Survivorship Award and was named Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Creighton University Medical School. Pete and his wife, Annette, have six children and live in Omaha.
*December 15, 2013 we began honoring the memory of Dr. Townley.
