At age 9 Raymond began suffering from seizures. During an MRI we learned that Ray had a brain tumor (choroid plexus papilloma) and would undergo brain surgery. He bravely named his tumor after his least favorite WWE wrestler and pretended to be his favorite wrestler headed in to surgery (aka “the ring”) to kick its (“his”) butt! Ray showed tremendous strength, courage, and positivity then, and since then, as he continues to fight epilepsy.

Ray is now 12, and has been diagnosed with refractory epilepsy. Seizures persist despite tumor removal and medicine . In the next 6-9 months Ray is looking at another brain surgery to help with this.

Ray is kind, shows great courage, demonstrates an innate will to persevere, and just exudes positivity. To know him is to love him. We are thankful for his doctors at OHSU, and research funded from events like this, that have not only allowed us the opportunity to keep on loving him right to his face—but have saved his life all together!
