Sofia came home from work not feeling well on Monday April 11, 2022. She collapsed & went to the ER. Sofia’s mom, Cathy & her Dr. ordered the initial MRI on Tuesday April 12, 2022, revealing a mass in the right frontal lobe of the brain. By Thursday morning, Sofia underwent a craniotomy where Dr. Stachniak performed a full tumor resection. Post-surgery complications included left side weakness & a spinal fluid leak, requiring two additional surgeries: one for a permanent shunt to control fluid drainage, & another to address the leak. Sofia completed 2 weeks of in-patient rehab, regaining strength on her left side, followed by out-patient rehab. She was diagnosed with a grade IV GBM, completed 30 days of proton therapy radiation, & continues immunotherapy & chemotherapy.

Sofia is my wife & the strongest person I know. She fights every day, demonstrating remarkable strength through her actions. Her loving, caring, & sweet nature shines through, & through Sofia, I maintain faith.
