When my wife and I were married, we committed to supporting one another “in sickness and in health.” That commitment was tested when I was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. At the time, my wife was already the primary caregiver for our daughter with multiple autoimmune diseases while also caring for our three‑year‑old child.
Following my diagnosis, my wife assumed responsibility for coordinating my medical care, including researching treatment options, transporting me to appointments, and advocating for me within the healthcare system. At the same time, she continued managing the medical and daily needs of our daughter with autoimmune conditions, caring for our younger child, and overseeing the completion of a home renovation that had begun shortly before my medical emergency, including coordinating volunteer support.
Her ability to sustain multiple complex caregiving and logistical responsibilities was essential to maintaining stability for our family during this time of great challenge!
