“Can you pick up Atom from karate?”-yes
“Make sure he has dinner?”-yes
“Can you drive me to treatment?-yes
“How about—Don’t even ask, the answer is yes.
My biggest “yes man” is a superwoman—my mom. The strongest woman I know. Let’s be frank, cancer sucks. It drains the body, the spirit, and interrupts the day-to-day. But my mom? She never stops. She bends over backwards for her baby girl and her family—laundry, meals, mowing lawns, keeping plants alive, driving me to doctors, mothering my son when life pulls my husband and mep away. She’s a one-woman show, and I’m lucky to have a front row seat.
That’s why I’m nominating my mom, Dilva Elizondo, for Legacy of Love. She is the definition of caregiver, and honoring her would be a small way to show the enormous gratitude I feel.
