Janene’s daughter was diagnosed during the the COVID epidemic. Abby was a high school senior facing the fight of her life and unable to have visitors. Janene never wavered in her commitment to be at Abby’s side so that she was never alone. She fed Abby every meal by the spoonful when Abby could not hold a utensil. The miles and time spent driving her between Stillwater and OKC to therapy, doctor appointments, scans, and surgeries are too many to count. She filled notebooks with appointment notes and research on therapies, medicines, and outcomes. She found unique therapies to help with Abby’s balance including kick-boxing and horse therapy. She adapted their home to Abby’s interests and needs (ie installed a greenhouse and raised beds in the backyard to help with school and stress). Abby’s progress is a credit to her own grit, but no doubt she would not have progressed this far physically or emotionally without her mom. Janene has been tireless in love & action for the past 4.5 years.
