I would like to nominate my father, Larry James, on behalf of our entire family. My brother, Kevin, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in January 2024, with my dad taking his diagnosis particularly hard. Every hospital visit, chemotherapy and radiation session, my dad never left Kevin’s side. He prepared Kevin’s meals, helped him to and from the bathroom, bathing, shaving, and everything in-between to ensure Kevin was taken care of. Even after Kevin was placed in hospice, my dad still insisted on helping along with caretakers that would come a few times a week. I know at nearly 70 years old, it was extremely taxing for him physically and emotionally, but he handled it as well as any father could. Like any dad, he often wished to trade places with his son, saying, “I’ve lived a full life, he still has so much ahead of him”. When Kevin passed in 2025, my dad not only lost his son, but also his best friend. I am, however, forever thankful for what my dad did for Kevin during this time.
