At just 20 years old, Maddy’s world changed with four words: Your brother has brain cancer. From that moment on, she willingly and wholeheartedly stepped into the role of caregiver for her brother, Dom. Overnight, her focus shifted to helping Dom navigate life as a 21-year-old Michigan State University student while facing the challenges of cancer treatment.
For 5 ½ years, Maddy stood faithfully by Dom’s side. Together they created an atmosphere filled with joy, resilience, and hope, even as she worked to complete her own studies at MSU. Later, while pursuing her master’s degree in Washington D.C, Maddy and Dom continued their advocacy, running side by side in the Head for the Cure 5K event, vowing to represent, raise awareness and represent others impacted by brain tumors.
Dom’s life and Maddy’s devotion remind us all why this fight matters – not only for patients, but also for the families and caregivers who walk beside them every step of the way..
