My mother Wanda Petersen should be recognized with a legacy of love award based on the extensive care, devotion, determination, and fight she gave for over two years in helping her son and my brother Mitch Petersen. When Mitch was diagnosed with glioblastoma she retired early, moved to be with him, and was a force battling the cancer with him. Mitch became a Christian during his brain cancer battle. In Mitch’s own words through his testimony: “My mom has become my rock as my speech/recall, driving issues, care needs, and faith have brought a close relationship even closer. She helps coordinates appointment and consults with multiple doctor groups, knows all my off-label drugs, treatments, what the impact of every new drug may be: making friends with everyone she meets along the way.” Unfortunately Mitch lost his battle with cancer 1/2024. Wanda continues to advocate for Mitch’s legacy despite his passing by continuing to share his testimony and advocate for a cure for brain cancer.
