Nick

Hadad

Nick has been putting smiles on strangers faces for most of his life. He has performed, professionally, as mascots for various sports teams in Maryland and New York. He has been so many of the mascots in Rochester, it’s likely you’ve hugged him without knowing it. He is a loving, caring, sensitive man. He has worked in wildlife rescue and spends as much time with various chariities as possible, trying to help bring attention to them with his bright colors and playful antics. Nick is also my partner of 12 years. We have soldiered through many bad times and a handful of good ones, but obviously my diagnosis of Anaplastic Astrocytoma at age 31, when the COVID shutdowns were just starting here, was devastating. But Nick, as he always does, remained loyally by my side through the whole thing, and helped me to remission. He also did what he always does: bring people together. Because he has helped ao many people in his life, purely out of the goodness of his heart, we received an outpouring of support from the community. I have never had so many people care about, and for, me. And Nick did that. Every has such gratitude for the man behind the mask, though so few know who he is. At the Rochester, NY 5K, he has made sure his unicorn friend, Dazzle, will be around to bring attention to Head for the Cure, and to ensure joy and fun for everyone involved.
