Ammon Howard

My grandfather, Ammon Howard, was born in 1900 and died in 1967 from an astrocytoma. They didn’t have chemotherapy in 1966 rural Texas. He underwent surgery and radiation, but succumbed in 1967 shortly after seeing his daughter be married. I never knew my grandfather, but was always aware of his story. Therefore, it was quite surprising when I was diagnosed with the same tumor. Ammon was a friend to everyone and helped anyone he could. He was a farmer and loving father and husband. I always heard how he hated his name since no one could pronounce it properly. I wish I had known him.
