Ben Knight

This beautiful man, husband and father passed away peacefully on July 11, 2020 after a 14 month battle with a Glioblastoma. Ben Knight worked as a Research Scientist Drug Discovery Oncology for Takeda Pharmaceuticals for over 26 years. He was proud of the work he did and loved the people he worked with. Many of which became his life long friends. Saying Ben loved to travel is an understatement. He had the bug, especially anywhere warm. A few years ago he discovered the joys of cruising and made it his goal to go on as many cruises as he could. Often jumping on a ship with Alex, our son, and doing a Repositioning Cruise out of Boston. Ben learned in college, as a House Manager, how quickly he enjoyed fixing and building things. Two of the houses he bought were in considerable need of rehab. In NH, he built decks, resided and reroofed two buildings on his property. His biggest undertaking was gutting a small cabin and completely remodeling it. There was always a project waiting for him in NH, but after a long day, a buffalo Chicken pizza and pint of Guinness at the Shannon Door Pub was what he most looked forward to. Last year Ben started thinking about retirement and his future travel destinations. The house in Franklin was put on the market and quickly sold. Downsizing to the Lakehouse in Holliston was not an easy task as Ben had just undergone brain surgery, but the goal was to live a simpler life and travel as much as possible. Over the last year, Ben was able to make that happen. Between treatments, he traveled frequently to NH to spend time in the mountains, he went to visit his parents in Jamestown. Most importantly he was able to take a cruise to Bermuda in October with his family. Ben was not a big fan of winters in New England or maybe it was an excuse to go somewhere warm and work remotely. In 2018, Ben decided to work remotely from Key Largo, Florida. It worked out so well, he booked a place in Port Canaveral for the winter of 2020. It was difficult at times as he traveled back and forth with his family in tow to do treatments in Boston. It has been a wonderful journey with Ben and I’m sad to see it end so soon in his life. He fought hard and put on a brave face for the many struggles and side effects he encountered with the disease and the effects of the drugs. He will be greatly missed and his absence leaves a hole in the hearts of everyone that knew and loved him. He will always be with us
