Carmen Rodriguez

What can we say about our beloved Mom, Grandma, Sister etc, Carmen Rodriguez, our Little Angel…. She was the most unselfish person you’d ever met with the greatest Servant’s heart. She touched so many lives in so many ways, and we are all better people today because of the impact she had on us. Throughout her whole life, she exemplified what unconditional love, compassion and devotion truly is, even more so in the last few years of her life while she cared for her Husband in his final years. She loved her Husband so much and was always there for him every step of the way until his last day. Her Husband had a funny nickname for her, “Ardilla” which means Squirrel. She could just never sit still and always had to be doing something! They shared their life together through thick and thin, in sickness and in health for over 56 years. We are proud of their accomplishment and they are reunited together in Heaven now. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and a Godly Woman, always lifting her Family in prayer. She loved having candid conversations about life and sometimes our funny inside jokes would lead to uncontrollable fits of laughter! Her smile and warm hugs could brighten anyone’s day. She was the most amazing Chef and a master at everything she prepared, especially Puerto Rican cuisine. So much love was poured into each meal, and our weekly Family gatherings were the highlight of our week. Anyone who knew her saw her need to keep her home super organized and impeccably clean. At 4’9″ tall, she may have been tiny in height but was mighty in every other way! She looked so cute with her petite and youthful clothing style and trendy glasses. She always used to say “Un Segundo de vida, la vida es.” Literally translated it means “One second of life, life it is” and in so many words meant to cherish each moment, as each one is valuable. She appreciated and sincerely enjoyed the time she spent surrounded by her Family. Whether it was out shopping, walking at the park, day trips exploring, home simply having great conversation or watching movies together, it was special. We will always remember and cherish the love and fun memories we shared with her. We will use them as our strength and inspiration to continue our lives, one day at a time and make her proud. She was a gift that keeps on giving as her legacy lives on in all of us. We honor her today and everyday. Till we meet again…
