Chelsea Laney

Several days after being diagnosed with brain cancer, my sweet daughter Chelsea Laney saw a Facebook posting that a friend wanted to participate in the first Head for the Cure event. After Chelsea posted that she wanted to join the effort, the Sweet Chelsea team evolved. In May 2011 six days following her brain surgery, Chelsea stepped across the finish line to join 186 teammates who honored my precious 31-year old daughter. The fifth-grade teacher and mother of Logan and Catelyn who were 10 and 8 years old at that time held her head high to face brain cancer each day. Chelsea lived each day to the fullest, teaching the day before she unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 9, 2014. Chelsea led her team to find a cure, raising approximately $45,000 during the three years she participated in Head for the Cure as well as the following year that her family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors walked in her honor. Chelsea will live in our hearts forever!
