Dan was a big man with a huge heart. When he smiled, he lit up the whole room and he loved to make people laugh. No matter how dark things became, he could always find a way to make you smile through the pain and right up until his final days, he continued to charm the nurses and thank the doctors and staff for how they cared for him. He was selfless and generous, and this world will be diminished by his loss.
His daughter told all of us that her Daddy has already earned his wings in heaven and now he’s an angel watching over us; anyone who knew Dan could tell you that she was right. He fought Glioblastoma with every ounce of strength, enduring every trial and treatment to give his little girl as many memories as possible and in the end, he survived three years with this terrible disease. We have to hope that he is happy and at peace now with his father and grandparents, looking down on all of us with that great big smile.
