My dad, Dave, was the coolest man I’ve ever known. Outside of loving his family and friends with everything he had, he was a massive Jimmy Buffett fan (fins up forever!), loved spending his summers down at Lake Cumberland & never missed an opportunity at throwing in a dad joke every chance he could. My dad was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma in November of 2010. His tumor had continued to progress despite two surgeries, chemo and radiation. My dad refused to give up and continued to research for solutions. After much research, he came across the concept of Tumor Treating Fields. This therapy is provided using a device made by Novocure, which uses alternating electrical fields to disrupt the rapid cell division exhibited by cancer cells. My dad finally got ahold of this device in November of 2011 and was the first patient in the country to receive a prescription for the device outside of a clinical trial. My dad fought until he lost his battle in December of 2012. Cheers to Dave!
