My mom was an extremely passionate person. She was passionate about everything she involved herself in. Her family, her marriage, her relationship with God, her work, animals, her children, everything! She earned many rewards while climbing her career ladder. She worked in retail, in banking, in HR, and was involved in many charities. She was diagnosed in 2016, she named her tumors “Felicia” so that when they took them out, she could say “BYE FELICIA”. That was the hashtag she used during her entire battle. Something unique about Denise is that when she turned 40, she had a birthday tradition, where however old she turned, that was how many random acts of kindnesses she did. It started little with sending gifts to friends, or buying someone coffee, to giving gifts to an entire nursing home. The year she got diagnosed, she was in her hospital bed, writing 47 letters with dunkin donut gift cards to mail out for her birthday. She was loved and cherished by many. She never, in the 27 months she fought, said “why is this happening to me?” She always had a smile and never cried for herself. She is missed dearly, everyday.
