I don’t normally do 5K runs, but this one is for my Daddy! He was one of the strongest heroes in my life and I miss him dearly. GBM is an awful disease and took my Daddy from me and his family, including his 3 grandchildren, within 3 weeks from day of diagnosis. If love could have saved him, he would still be here, it is still so hard to not share holiday and milestones with him. I am hoping to honor my Daddy in the best way I can by participating with the rest of our GBM family to find a cure. Please join me if you can in this journey. I am sure my Daddy is looking down from Heaven smiling and cheering us on! Donnie Johnson was the best Dad one girl could ever dream of, he was also a husband to my mother for 53 years, and most of all the best grandfather to my 3 children. My little boy, who is 4, asked if I wanted him to get a ladder and go to Heaven to get Papa to come back to visit. That was a moment that I will never forget. I feel my Dad’s presence everywhere. My mother passed 5 months after my Dad, so it is true what they say about losing people you love and not being able to live without them. I was so blessed to have had my Dad in my life and his grandchildren as well. it’s amazing this disease took him from us in just 3 weeks from the day they told us he had GBM. I am also blessed to not have my Dad suffer a long time with this, as he was 78 years old. My Dad is my hero and will always be!
