Gerald Yates

Gerald spent his entire life serving his community, county, and others. Gerald recently retired from Florence County Emergency Mgt. where he was the FC Communications Manager.  He also was a Reserve Deputy and K9 Officer with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and served in many different capacities with the South Lynches Fire Department. Gerald was also a member of the Florence County ERT(Emergency Response Team), Pee Dee Regional Incident Management Team, the state of SC Communications Strike Force, Local Government Communications Association, APCO (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials), the SCLEOA (South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association) and a past Board member for the Joseph C. Rodgers Scholarship Foundation.

He met and married his soulmate just last December 2015. Gerald was diagnosed with GBM on August 4, 2016, just 8 months after the wedding.  He only survived 10 weeks post diagnosis.  He leaves behind his wife Teresa, son Stewart and stepson TJ.  Gerald lived life to the fullest and was bigger than life!
