Janet Surrett

My mom, Janet, was diagnosed June 2018 with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma WHO grade III inoperable brain tumor. About 6 months prior, we started to notice the left side of her face drooped and she was having slurred speech at times. After diagnosis, she started radiation and chemo with her great doctors at Hermelin Brain Tumor Center. They are research partners with Head For the Cure. Janet was a true warrior who battled through multiple cancer diagnosis’s, endured multiple radiation & chemo treatments, and complications from those treatments. She always found a way to roll through it all with laughter and a smile. She never gave up, even in the very end. As a retired grade school teacher, she was always sharing her love of science and animals with her grandchildren. You would see her frequently looking for frogs, turtles, and snakes with them. We called her a water baby, as she would do or try anything that had to do with being on the water. Janet has left a legacy that we are all honored and grateful to carry-on. Mom, you will be deeply missed by your family and friends. In our hearts you will stay, in our minds you will be remembered, in our actions you will be honored.
