Joe Scorziell

Joe Scorziell battled GBM4 for 9 months. He was a passionate Buckeye and Blue Jacket fan, being a CBJ season ticket holder for 10 years starting their first season. He was an entrepreneur owning and running family businesses. He was proud of his 5 grandkids who he enjoyed supporting at sporting events and school activities. His sense of humor and love for life was contagious. He loved his family passionately, always telling us how proud he was. But his most proud accomplishment and something he would not shyly talk about was the love of his life, Bonnie Jean, his wife of 44 years. High school sweethearts who began dating in Toledo, Ohio, their love was something everyone should strive for. They put their retirement on hold while he fought this battle, always having the dreams that he would beat it and they would be able to live out their dreams of traveling and living a life of leisure. Unfortunately, as the summer wore on that dream began to fade and on mom’s birthday the decision was made to take dad to hospice. However, we were able to take one last family vacation to his favorite beach destination – Tybee Island. Although, there were glimmers of the dad before brain cancer during this vacation, this was ultimately the beginning of the end. When we returned home the end loomed closer and closer. After an 18 day stay in hospice, dad beat the beast and gained his angel wings on August 24, 2018, nine months and 1 day from diagnosis. Not a second doesn’t go by without thinking of him.
