Joe was diagnosed on March 23, 2018, just 1 month shy of his 30th birthday. For months he complained of a headache that just wouldn’t go away. Within a few hours he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, scheduled for shunt placement and biopsy at the same hospital, and his case at Henry Ford with initiated. He made it through an extended ICU stay after about a bout of sepsis. He had fought influenza pneumonia, hydrocephalus, made it through a handful of surgeries, a full round of radiation and a few rounds of chemotherapy. We all admired his strength and his will to fight. He never complained, he never asked for anything, he just wanted to do what needed to be done. The tumor was relentless! After a long hard 22 month fight, we’ve had a devastating loss. Joe passed away January 28,2020. He touched the lives of many and made a good impression where ever he went. His infectious personality and bright smile is missed terribly. Gone but never forgotten. We are so very very grateful for the care he received at the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center at Henry Ford hospital. The Doctors, the nurses, the oncology/neurology teams are very much appreciated. Thank you for the care and dedication to our son and every patient you treat.
