Joshua Hearndon

Joshua spent most of his childhood being actively involved in boy scouts and striving to learn everything he could about the ocean and the creatures that live within it. He attained the highest honor in Boy Scouts – Eagle Rank. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy with Jenna by his side. After boot camp he was stationed in with the Seabees in Gulfport Mississippi with NMCB 7. In 2007 he proposed to Jenna right before shipping out on his first deployment to Japan. While in the seabees he also deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq as well as a 10 month deployment to Spain. When he came home from Spain, Josh and Jenna got married on March 11th 2011. He then received order to NAS Sigonella located in Sicily, Italy. In September 2014 Josh was diagnosed with Crohns disease and two days later after receiving treatment he had two grand mal seizures. The couple was medically evacuated out of Sicily and to Walter Reed in Bethesda Maryland. There they were told that Josh had stage 2 Glimotosis Cerebri. The doctors started him on a round of chemotherapy and radiation. He did 12 months of chemotherapy and the tumor was stable for 10 months after completion of chemo. In 2017 Joshua retired from the Navy with 10 years of service. He moved back to Florida with his wife and together they purchased a home. He started another type of chemotherapy to help stop the growth of the cancer. In October 2017 he went in for a brain biopsy that determined their worst fears. Joshua had be diagnosed again, this time with a gioblastoma stage IV. He started chemotherapy right away. Unfortunately on March 3rd 2018 he passed away peacefully with his family and wife by his side.

Josh never let the cancer win, he was always so upbeat and full of life. He constantly made jokes, but he always knew how serious it was. He was extremely protective of Jenna and always made sure to put her before himself. Though he is gone, he is never far away. Look for him at the ocean, that’s where he will be.
